Bachelor of Chemical Sciences at the University of Valladolid in 1982 with Extraordinary Award of Degree and Extraordinary Award for the best academic 
record of the Faculty of Sciences. Between June 1989 and September 1995 he was a tenured professor at the University of Oviedo, later moving to the 
University of Valladolid. He was proclaimed rector of the University of Valladolid on May 2, 2018.
