She holds a European PhD in Educational Sciences from the University of the Balearic Islands (1997). She is the author and co-author of various publications and research on environmental education, heritage interpretation, leisure, sociocultural animation and cultural cooperation.

She has been a member of the Commission of Education and Communication of the UICN and co-founder of the Federació d'Associations d'Estudiants de les Illes Balears (FAE)

She has served as spokesperson for education and culture of the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Balearic Parliament and as the deputy general director of Cooperation and Cultural Promotion Abroad in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. From 2007 to 2011 she was mayor of Palma and, later, she served as spokesperson for the Municipal Socialist Group in the City Council of Palma.
