Christine Oppitz-Plorer

Mayor of Innsbruck, Austria. She was born on June 7th 1968 in Innsbruck. She completed her studies in economics in 1993 with the graduation and the diploma thesis “Reform of Family Taxation”.

In 2000, Christine Opitz-Plorer became part of the local council of Innsbruck. From December 2002 to June 2009, she was a city councilor responsible for education, society, childcare and youth, family, women and adults. On 8 June 2009, the city council of Innsbruck elected her deputy mayor of the provincial capital of Innsbruck with 34 out of 40 votes. On 8 March 2010, she was elected mayor. In the next municipal elections in 2012, citizens chose Kristin Opitz-Plorer as mayor of the first direct elections in the history of Innsbruck.
